Telepathic Dumpster Personnel

Carl Nash
                                                   voice, guitars, mandolin, ukulele

A singer-songwriter from a family of musical leanings, Carl Nash is as comfortable on the recorder, pop bottle, or jaw harp as he is on his main axe of guitar.  His natural tenor voice, captivating as well as effortless, has inspired comparisons to John Denver and James Taylor.  Nash's prolific recording and performance history has followed him from his home town of Haines, Alaska (Mixed Greens, Tully’s Tow Truck) down the west coast to Eugene, where he has produced two CDs and written over fifty songs in the last two years.  His lyrics, deceptively simple in their use of everyday language and imagery, are offset by melody-driven rhythms that lull the ear with beauty while tantalizing the brain with unconventional form.

Emily West
                                             voice, drums, percussion, tabla, conga

Drummer/vocalist from regional Local Buddha, Emily West is a vocal virtuoso and kickin’ drummer to boot.  Her range of vocal styles, textured as Annie Lennox, warm as Christine McVie, and strong as Grace Slick, has been heard from the largest venues of Seattle’s Benaroya Hall to the intimate and personal settings of Whidbey Island’s Greenbank Farm.  Equally comfortable behind the kit, West brings the ear of a percussionist to her creation of textured grooves and classic rock beats.

Carter Soles
                                                             voice, electric bass

Carter Soles began his career in the rock and roll business in 1992 when he cofounded famous Washington band Too Young To Know, serving as that band’s bass guitarist and most prolific lyricist. One of the most significant accomplishments of that noteworthy band was its bringing together of Soles with drummer Emily West in fall 1994, when West moved behind the kit from having been Too Young To Know's harmony vocalist. Soles himself began singing onstage in spring 1996, helping to pick up slack from departed lead singer Clint McCune after Too Young To Know played its final show the day after Thanksgiving 1995. Soles and West, along with blues/rock guitarist David Miller (also of Too Young To Know fame), formed Babelfish, soon to add keyboardist Laren Crawford (summer 1996) and to change its name to Local Buddha (early 1997). Despite changing lineups and a radical shift toward more improvisational jamming starting in late 1997/early 1998, Local Buddha remained Local Buddha essentially until the present day, though its most recent lineup, including Soles, West, and guitarist Shawn Bryan, has not played live since 2000. At any rate, in summer 2002 Soles and West moved to Eugene when Soles enrolled in graduate school at the University of Oregon. Here Soles and West met Nash, Nash in turn introduced them to MASTER OF ROCK Josh Marks, and now (according to some very trustworthy intergalactic space robots) TELEPATHIC DUMPSTER RULES!! Soles's musical influences include Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Phish, The Grateful Dead, and Crosby Stills and Nash.

Josh Marks                                                                     voice, guitars

A Eugene native with heavy metal roots, Josh Marks has metabolized the skill and artistic finesse found in the songwriting and guitar mastery of Metallica and Rush.   Marks's playing ranges from beautiful, finger-picked classical phrases to bold rock compositions accompanied by hard-hitting (and often existential) lyrics.   And as if his guitar mastery weren't enough, Marks is a powerful vocal talent whose rich baritone voice warms the harmonies and haunts the melodies of this ensemble. In addition to Marks's considerable talents as an individual performer and songwriter, the telepathic sounds woven by duo Nash and Marks create an eerie effect of seamless melodies and countermelodies ranging from the delicate to the groovy to the fully rocking.
