Get down and boogie! That’s what you’re gonna do if you listen to these fuckin basement tapes. The basement tapes rule our destiny, and we can only listen to them carefully and ponder their mysteries. Will the Alien Warlord spare our pathetic planet? What will become of the giant green potted plant? Will drugs fuck up your life? Perhaps you will survive long enough to answer these questions. Molest a sheep, and LONG LIVE THE AUDIO CASSETTE!

A particularly good run of this bitchin’ funk-fest.

Here is a complete version of Untold Story, with lyrics! Fuck yeah!

Though we have had this song in our repertoire for some time now, it has recently (in the last few months of 2007) seen some increased public performance and therefore we have had to rehearse it some. Here is a recording of one such rehearsal. Drugs is chock full of useful advice and constitutes another important public service announcement from Eugene’s own Master of Rock, Josh Marks.

A brief snippet of two unusual and mildly entertaining grooves.

An even briefer snippet of some between-song talking: Josh and Carter discuss the idea of a Telepathic Dumpster album entitled Drug-Heads, including concepts for a very humorous album cover. As I listen to this recording now (on January 12, 2008) I think we should seriously consider naming the forthcoming album of outtakes from our This Is The Same sessions Drug-Heads-- maybe even do the funny cover idea described here, either photorealistically or as an illustration or artistic representation of some kind. I think Drug-Heads is a funnier and more apropo album title than our current working title, Weirdo-Face 2, which is based upon the title for the yet-to-be released album of outtakes from our Hotter Than Hell sessions, Weirdo-Face. [Editor’s Note: There is reason to hope that the popular underground classic Weirdo-Face will soon be officially released with spiffy new original CD cover art by Emma McDonald. . . Perhaps by spring or summer 2008! Stay tuned!]

Wow! This is a pretty damn good improvisational thrill ride. The basic groove is simplicity itself, but there is plenty of good intensity here. Enjoy or die!

This brilliant new epic masterpiece by Carl Nash is destined for greatness as a key musical number to be featured in SPIDERTRON 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO. This recording is from one of the first nights we played the song together, and so this is really rough around the edges, but that’s the kind of cutting-edge shit you come to the Basement Tapes to hear, yes?

More great Basement Tapes-style fare, this is an instrumental number based on a riff of Carl’s. We originally spontaneously jammed on this two-part progression a few months ago, during some recording sessions for our forthcoming double album, This Is The Same. Then just a couple of weeks ago, while reviewing our own recorded material, we came across the snippet of this jam and realized we wanted to jam on it again. Voila! So fuckin’ groovy. Maybe some industrious soul will write some lyrics for this soon. . .

Based on a cool chord progression of Josh’s, this jam cruises along nicely, and includes some talk at the end of the track that reveals that Carl broke a guitar pick during the playing of this tune. Such excitement!

A delightful improvisational jam with Emily’s lyrics (about a recent dream she’d had) layered over the top. Not to mention some amusing talk about zebra nipples at the end.

A snippet of Carl dee-yahing and doo-wopping over a riff of his own invention. Quite entertaining!

This excellent version of Taskmaster was recorded as we rehearsed it for its World Premiere at the Downtown Lounge on Friday, February 22. It is designated with a (2) because it is the second time we ran the song that same night. It features a great central guitar riff by Carl and lead vocal and lyrics by Emily.
